Things To Know Before Scheduling Drives

• We find that students who rush to do all their drives immediately after getting the Learner Permit often do not do well on the Driving Test.  Doing all 3 drives quickly then waiting 4-6 monts to do the driving test means  they have not been with a Brown’s instructor for several months.
• Drive times can be scheduled through the “Schedule A Drive” on our website once the 10 hours of class is completed, or students may call the nearest Brown’s office to schedule drives.
• Brown’s is always 2-3 weeks out on available drive times.
• Parents of students under 18 must sign an affidavit when getting a Learner’s Permit agreeing to ride with their teenager for 50 hours of driving (40 daytime, 10  nighttime).  The 50 hours of drive time must be completed within 6 months or by the time they turn 18.
• We strongly recommend students drive daily at home.
• Schedule drives 1 & 2 online, and save drive 3 until test day. To schedule drive 3 on test day go to the Brown’s website at www.brownsdriving.com and select Driver Education > Driver’s Test > Online Request.  As you fill out the request form,  for the type of Service Requested select “Third Drive and Driving Test.”

Situation 1:  the student has a Learner Permit, has completed the 10 hours of classroom, and will not be eligible to test for several months…we recommend scheduling one drive now, scheduling the second drive in 2-3 months, and scheduling the 3rd drive on test day. (see the “How to Schedule” notes below).

 Situation 2: the student does not have a Learner Permit , has completed the 10 hours of classroom…we recommend scheduling drive 1 right after getting the Learner Permit, scheduling the second drive  2-3 months later, and scheduling the 3rd drive on test day. (see the “How To Schedule” notes below).

Situation 3: the student has a Learner Permit, has completed the 10 hours of class, is eligible to do the driving test soon…we recommend contacting Brown’s office for help in getting drives completed quickly, remembering that you are at a disadvantage when waiting until the last minute.

Situation 4:  the student is 18 or older, has a Learner Permit, has completed the 10 hours of class, and is now eligible to test…we recommend contacting Brown’s office for help in getting drives completed quickly, remembering that you are at a disadvantage when waiting until the last minute.

How To Schedule Drive 3 On Test Day

We recommend saving drive 3 until the day of the driving test.  Testing is done in the mornings, Monday through Friday, 9 am-1 pm. Students who are doing drive 3 & Test must do drive 3 at 8 am or 10 am on test day.  The driving test will be conducted at the end of drive 3.  To schedule drive 3 on test day go to the Brown’s website at www.brownsdriving.com and select Driver Education > Driver’s Test > Online Request.  As you fill out the request form,  for the type of Service Requested select “Third Drive and Driving Test.”
